Lady Monarchs Fall To Richmond Despite Strong Performance

NORFOLK, VA (Jan. 28) - Old Dominion's women's swimming and diving team fell to Richmond, 138.5-161.5, in the Scrap Chandler Pool.

Old Dominion (1-9, 1-4) lost despite a win in the 400 free relay, freshman Jamie D'Agostino's (Ardsley, NY) three event wins, and freshman diver Ashley Kirchner's (Arlington, VA) wins in both the one and three meter dives.

D'Agostino earned wins in the 1000 (10:35.48), 200 (1:59.12) and 500 (5:12.77) freestyle events, while Kirchner swept the diving events with scores of 252.75 on the three meter and 233.40 on the one meter board.

The Lady Monarchs ended the meet with a victory in the 400 free relay, after UR's winning team was disqualified. ODU's winning time was 3:43.11.

Freshman Sarah Mooney (Riverside, RI) earned a win in the 200 back with a time of 2:10.79, while freshman Kara Fichthorn (Landsdowne, PA) won the 200 breast (2:31.66). The Lady Monarchs return to action tomorrow as they host William and Mary and American in dual meet action in the Scrap Chandler Pool at 1 pm.
