Monarchs top JMU in Cox Communications Meet

ODU Men's Swimming and Diving Team won the first annual Cox Communications Scholarship Swim Meet

Women's Team Falls in Final Event, 119-124

NORFOLK, VA - (Oct. 17) Old Dominion's Lady Monarch (0-1, 0-1) swimming and diving team was defeated by James Madison (1-1,1-1), 119-124 today in the first annual Cox Communications Scholarship Swim Meet. The winner was determined in the final event, as JMU defeated ODU in the women's 400 free relay.

The Lady Monarchs had several strong performances from their young squad that features 14 freshmen. Freshman diver Ashley Kirchner (Arlington, VA) swept the women's diving events, while freshman Jamie D'Agostino (Ardsley, VA) won the 200, 500 and 1000 freestyle events. In addition, freshmen Sarah Mooney (Riverside, RI) and Kara Fichthorn (Landsdowne, PA) won their respective events. The Lady Monarchs return to action on Saturday at 9am as they swim West Virginia and Virgina Tech in a dual meet at West Virginia.
