Each week during the 2016-17 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week’s Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is senior Alex Crognale of the Big Ten champion men’s soccer team.
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland senior defender Alex Crognale was named Terp of the Week after his work in a win against Wisconsin last Friday.
Crognale – who ironically is one of the top center backs in the nation – led the squad offensively, scoring two goals, including the late equalizer to send the match into overtime where the Terps eventually won, 3-2, to claim the Big Ten regular season championship for the second time in the last three seasons. He was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week last Tuesday.
The captain from Gahanna, Ohio, has led Maryland to 13-0-2 record this season. The Terps have not lost since a match at Ohio State on Oct. 31, 2015 – a stretch of 20 games.
Maryland returns to action when it plays host to Delaware Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Ludwig Field.
