Women's Lacrosse Fall Schedule Starts at Cornell
ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany women’s lacrosse begins its fall 2019 schedule on Saturday, September 21 with a trip to Cornell.
In their first fall competition, the Great Danes will play host Cornell as well as Bucknell. Two weeks later, the team will play at home for an alumni weekend featuring a scrimmage against former Great Danes.
On October 13, UAlbany will visit Princeton to face off against the Tigers, as well as the University of Southern California and Rutgers. The following week features a trip to Harvard to play two Boston-area schools, the Crimson and Boston College. UAlbany will also play Hofstra during that trip.
The fall schedule concludes on October 25 at home with a visit from Marist.
Among the teams on the schedule, Boston College finished the regular-season ranked #3 in the country and played in their third-straight NCAA Championship. Ivy League champion Princeton finished #10, falling to BC in the Elite Eight. Pac-12 champion USC finished #18, and fell to Denver in overtime in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.
Last season, under first-year head coach Katie Rowan, UAlbany advanced to its ninth-straight America East title game, finishing 11-7 overall and 6-1 in-conference. The 2020 team featured no seniors, and will return all nine America East All-Conference selections, including Offensive Player of the Year Madison Conway and Rookie of the Year Hailey Carroll, as well as the program's career assists leader Sam Tortora, while adding nine freshmen to the roster.
