CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte track and field redshirt senior Zach Greth caps his career at Charlotte, picking up another academic honor to add to his already impressive resume. Greth was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, announced by the organization Thursday afternoon.
Charlotte is a member of District 11 in track and field, featuring Division I universities from North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee. Greth is a part of an 11-member selection, and just one of three representatives from Conference USA. As an All-District selection, Greth has the opportunity to earn Academic All-American status later this summer.
The double major in psychology/sociology carries a 3.97 GPA (the highest in the league amongst cross country men) and also spends time volunteering at a local hospital.
Greth hails from Reading, Pa., and was most recently named to the 2015 C-USA All-Academic Team for Cross Country this past fall. He was a member of the 2013 C-USA All-Academic Team in track and field, and is a three-time winner of the C-USA Academic Medal. He has made the Chancellor's, Dean's, and AD's Lists every semester, and the Commissioner's Honor Roll every semester, both during his C-USA and Atlantic 10 Conference tenures.
As a distance runner, Zach focuses on the 5,000 and 10,000m runs. He ran the 10K at the prestigious Penn Relays and was a member of the 4x1500m relay who took tenth at equally prestigious Colonial Relays earlier this spring.
After missing all of last season due to injury, Greth bounced back nicely as one of the leaders of the distance crew for Charlotte in cross country, leading them to three Top Two finishes as a team.
