CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte men’s and women’s cross country teams will head to Williamsburg, Va., for their second meet of the 2015 season, hosted by William & Mary.
Coach Alex Gibby will be sending 10 females and five males to his alma mater. The females are the same force that competed in the opening UVa Duals- an experience-heavy group of veterans that took the top finish at the meet.
Led by senior Morgan Richards, who placed 4th overall at UVa, and classmates Ashleigh Handchen, Lauren Pollard, Caragh MacDermott, Taylor Carcella, Rachel Miller, and Tiffany Lang, the women will look to improve on their fourth place finish at the William & Mary Invitational a year ago. Handchen was the Niners top finisher at 17th place.
For the men, a small platoon of mid-distance men will take battle. Seniors Nicholas Rotz and Carl Walton will run in their second meet of the season, joined by junior Kent Mann, sophomore Josh Barrett, and redshirt freshman Adam Huff. The 49ers took third place at the W&M Invite in 2014, boosted by a 15th place finish from Rotz.
Both squads will return home for the Charlotte Invitational on Sept. 25, held at McAlpine Park.
