
Eight Keydets Earn ACWPC Academic Awards
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – A total of eight VMI student-athletes were recognized Wednesday with the release of the 2019 Women’s All-Academic list from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC). The Keydets also earned team honors with a 3.16 GPA.
Individual award winners are divided into three teams (Outstanding: 4.0-3.71; Superior: 3.70-3.41; Excellent: 3.40-3.20. Bridget Hughes, Caroline Wojtas and Sarah Dolitsky earned ‘Outstanding’ honors, Amber Hamil, Emma Noble, Genevieve Petrassi and Makenna Moore received ‘Superior’ accolades and Emma Perez earned a spot on the ‘Excellent’ Team on the 13-player Keydet roster.
"I'm very proud of the team's academic accomplishments,” said head coach Ryan Pryor. “Academic excellence is something we stress as being the top priority. We have a great group of cadet-athletes who are as committed in the classroom as they are in the pool. Congratulations to the eight individuals who were named Academic All-American and to the team as a whole for posting an excellent overall team GPA."
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete’s head coach must be a member of the ACWPC, while the athlete must attain a grade point average (GPA) in excess of 3.20. Teams must achieve a 3.0 GPA to garner honors.
