ATLANTA - Senior defensive end Terry Thomas is this week's GSU Student-Athlete of the Week.

Thomas had a fumble recovery, a pass breakup and a key third down stop late in the game to help Georgia State to a 31-21 victory at Coastal Carolina.

Thomas made perhaps the key defensive play of the game. With Georgia State holding a 10-point lead, the Chanticleers drove to the GSU 8-yard line with four minutes to play. On 3rd-and-1, Thomas made a stop for no gain, and when Coastal fumbled on fourth down, the game was essentially sealed.

Thomas led a GSU defense that allowed a season-low 322 yards of total offense against a Coastal Carolina team that was averaging 443.8 yards per game. The Panthers limited Coastal to 105 yards rushing, less than half its season average of 226.8 ypg.

In the first quarter, Thomas recovered a fumble at the CCU 44 to set up a Georgia State score, and he also broke up a pass in the fourth quarter. He finished with five tackles in the game.

Thomas and the Panthers return home this Saturday to host Army at 7 p.m. at GSU Stadium. Visit GeorgiaStateSports.com/Tix for tickets to Saturday's game.
