Three to Join Men's Tennis From Class of 2020

Princeton men’s tennis coach Billy Pate announced the addition of Eduardo Paz, Payton Holden and Davey Roberts, who will join the program from the Class of 2020 this fall.

“We are excited to welcome Eduardo, Payton and Davey to the Princeton Tiger family," Pate said. "All three of these young men embody the qualities we look for in student-athletes. Each has demonstrated tremendous success on a national and/or international scale and they all have a proven track record of success. The addition of this class will unquestionably add a great deal to our roster and we expect each of them to contribute right away during their freshman year as they battle for starting positions."

Payton Holden, Austin Tennis Academy, Austin, Texas
• Ranked as the No. 1 player in Texas in U12s, U14s, U16s, U18s
• Junior Team Tennis National Champion
• Five-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net
• Ranked top 30 in the US from ages 12-18 according to tennisrecruiting.net
• Currently ranked as the No. 32 prospect in the 2016 class according to tennisrecruiting.net
• Stands 6-foot-3, left-handed with complete all court game
• Outstanding doubles player

Eduardo Paz, Santa Cruz Cooperative School, Santa Cruz, Bolivia 
• Reached No. 1 national ranking in U14s and U16s 
• Reached No. 1 national ranking in U18s at 16 years of age 
• Part of Bolivian team that qualified for and played in the Junior Davis Cup Finals, the fourth time in the history of Bolivian tennis the feat has been accomplished 
• Reached career high ITF junior ranking of 161 
• Won Grade 5 ITF at age 16 in Bolivia 
• Reached QFs of doubles Grade A ITF event in Mexico 
• Won annual 5k race in schoolwide event in 9th and 10th grade 
• Won 1500 meter race in regional interscholastic league in 11th grade
• Student of the Year award for seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th and 11th grade 
• Golden Presidential Award signed by President Barack Obama 
• National Junior Honor Society member in middle school
• National Honor Society member in high school
• President of the student government in 12th grade

Davey Roberts, Matanzas HS, Palm Coast, Fla.
• Currently ranked as the No. 38 prospect in the 2016 class according to tennisrecruiting.net 
• Currently the fourth-ranked U18 player in the state of Florida
• Achieved a top-six USTA ranking for Florida for each age division from U10s-U18s
• Finalist at USTA Boys 18s Florida championship in 2015
• Five-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net
• Stands 6-foot-4, aggressive baseliner
