DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke men’s tennis program and head coach Ramsey Smith released Monday the squad’s 2019 fall competition schedule ahead of the first weekend of action.

The fall slate features six weekends of competition in collegiate and professional tournaments, beginning Sept. 6 in Raleigh, N.C. Duke will send representatives to a Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) event hosted by NC State Sept. 6-8 and to the ATP Cary Challenger in Cary, N.C. Sept. 9-15.

The Blue Devils host the program’s annual Duke Bonk Invitational Sept. 20-22 at the Cary Tennis Park. The event honors Dr. James Bonk, a former Duke chemistry professor and assistant tennis coach.

The ITA All-American Championships are slated for Oct. 5-13 in Tulsa, Okla., beginning with pre-qualifying rounds Oct. 5-6. Qualifying rounds will take place Oct. 7-8, followed by the main draw Oct. 9-13. The Blue Devils return to North Carolina the following weekend for the ITA Regional Championships in Cary Oct. 18-22. Both the ITA All-American Championships and the ITA Regional Championships provide opportunities for players to qualify for the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships Nov. 6-10 in Newport Beach, Calif.

Duke opens November at the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament, scheduled for Nov. 1-3 in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. The next weekend will see Blue Devils make the short trip to Winston-Salem, N.C., to take part in the Wake Forest Fall Invitational. Players who qualify will round out the collegiate portion of the fall season at the ITA National Championships on the West Coast.

The Blue Devils will also host a UTR event in the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center Nov. 22-24.

Duke features five returning letterwinners and welcomes five newcomers, who comprise the nation's top recruiting class, for the 2019-20 campaign.
