CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- After a stellar week where she accumulated ten RBI and scored seven times, Charlotte shortstop Haley Pace has been named College Sports Madness Conference USA Player of the Week.
College Sports Madness is an online publication that features weekly awards for all 31 Division I collegiate softball conferences.
Pace began her week going 2-for-4 with a double and run against in-state foe UNCG, and then followed that up with a 2-for-2 outing in Game 1 of the 49ers conference series with Middle Tennessee, where she blasted a two-run shot to give Charlotte a 5-3 lead and scored three times.
The sophomore collected five RBI in the first game, and then picked up four more in the nightcap after launching her second career grand slam to give Charlotte the 5-1 lead, and then wore the hero jersey again in the Sunday finale, driving in the third winning run in as many games after placing a sharply hit ball back at the Blue Raiders' shortstop in the tenth inning, who chose to try and get the out at home but couldn't beat the runner. She also scored twice.
Pace leads C-USA with 47 RBI this season and leads the Niners offensively, where she boasts a .333 average with 9 homeruns, 56 hits, and demonstrates tremendous patience at the plate, with just 15 strikeouts in 168 at bats this season, and only one across the four games this week.
She has now recorded 17 multi-hit games this season and 13 games with two or more RBI. She exits the weekend now tied for sixth all-time at Charlotte in homeruns (16).
Pace is fourth in C-USA in total bases (95), tenth in slugging percentage (.565), tied for ninth in hits (56), tied for first in sac flies (4), and tied for tenth in home runs (9).
