Clovis, California. – Four members of the Charlotte 49ers track and field program are competing in the USA Track and Field Junior Outdoor Championships in Clovis, California this weekend, June 24-26. Freshman Markel Dalton will compete in the triple jump. Freshman Kiana Lee and sophomore Kristen Williams will compete in the 400 meter. Freshman Elizabeth Olesen will compete in the High Jump.

Dalton qualified for the Junior Nationals after a personal best fifth-place triple jump of 14.89m at the Virginia Tech Invitational this past season. His best finish was a second place finish in the triple jump at the Charlotte Invitational.

Lee posted the fourth fastest indoor 400m time in school history, and narrowly missed the 400m finals at the C-USA Outdoor Championships this past May. Lee recorded 10 Top Eight finishes in 20 races during her rookie campaign. She finished fifth in the C-USA Indoor Championships in the 400 meter.

Williams captured the bronze medal in the 400 meter at the C-USA Outdoor Championships with a personal best time of 54.71. She initially qualified at the C-USA Indoor Championships at a time of 55.13 seconds, where she finished just shy of the medal podium in fourth. She currently holds the third fastest time in program history in the 400m indoors, and the fourth fastest in the same event outdoors. She was a member of the 2016 C-USA All-Academic Team, one of a league-high five Niners to earn such distinction.

Olesen carries a personal best of 1.74m in the high jump, which she set at the Duke Invitational in April. She is currently tied for third on the Indoor Charlotte All-Time Performances Lists at 1.70m, and ranks second all-time outdoor with her Juniors qualifying mark. Olesen won the high jump at two separate meets during her outdoor debut, and placed second or third at four other meets.
