WICKLIFFE, Ohio – The stay in Ohio for the Sam Houston bowlers was shorter than the team had hoped. The Kats lost matches to Stephen F. Austin and Maryland Eastern Shore on Thursday to eliminate them from the championship.

In the opening match of the day, the Kats and Lumberjacks went toe-to-toe. SFA took the opening round of the best of three mega match, winning the traditional team round by 105 pins.

The Kats bounced back taking the team bakers, having to come from behind in the final two games to win and force a deciding best-of-7 after a 35 pin victory. After the Kats took the opening game, SFA won the next four to take the match.

In the elimination match against UMES, the Kats dropped the first two rounds, falling in the team baker round by just 8 pins, 902-894.
