DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke swimming and diving programs will face their fourth ACC opponent of the season Friday when they travel to Charlottesville, Va., to take on the Cavaliers in dual meet action. The meet begins with diving events at 11 a.m., followed by swimming events at 3 p.m. from Virginia’s Aquatic and Fitness Center.

Live results will be available here.

In the Rankings
The Blue Devils will take on ranked opponents for the third consecutive meet in the 14th-ranked Virginia women and the 25th-ranked Cavalier men. The Duke women were ranked in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America Division I poll for the second straight edition, coming in at No. 23 in the Oct. 25 listing.

Last Time Out
After facing NC State and Penn State in a double dual meet Oct. 20 in Raleigh, the Blue Devil swimmers and divers are prepped for their third weekend of competition. The Duke women (2-2, 1-2 ACC) split action two weeks ago, topping Penn State (159-139) and falling to the eighth-ranked Wolfpack (195-103), while the men (0-4, 0-3 ACC) suffered a pair of setbacks to the fifth-ranked NC State men (179-113) and to the Lions (161.5-138.5).

Freshman diver Teddy Zeng notched the first individual win of his collegiate career against the Wolfpack and Lions, besting the field in the men’s three-meter springboard competition with a score (385.75) that cracked the Blue Devils’ all-time performance list. Another highlight for Duke came in the women’s 200-yard butterfly, as senior Isabella Paez was first to the wall and the lone swimmer under the two-minute mark (1:59.38).

Sophomore Alyssa Marsh added a pair of second-place finishes in the 50 (23.28) and 100 (50.77) freestyle, while junior Maddie Hess was second in the 100 backstroke (55.21) and third at the 200-yard distance (1:59.67). Junior Max St. George turned in solid performances while racing against a field of strong backstroke specialists from NC State. The Wheaton, Ill., native was third in the 200 backstroke (1:47.14) and fourth in the 100 (48.12).

A Look at Duke
Marsh’s 22.91 performance in the 50 freestyle during Duke’s season opener places her sixth in the ACC and 21st in the country heading into Friday’s action, while Paez’s 1:59.38 clocking in the 200 butterfly ranks her seventh in the conference and is tied for 26th nationally.

Junior Evan Moretti’s 390.65 mark on the three-meter board ranks him second in the ACC while the Blue Devils’ 200 freestyle (1:20.92), 200 medley (1:29.39) and 400 medley relays (3:16.24) all enter the weekend ranked fourth in the conference. The 200 freestyle relay of Yusuke Legard, Miles Williams, Sean Tate and Max St. George and the 400 medley relay of St. George, Judd Howard, Legard and Williams both own the 12th-fastest times in the country to date.
