LIMA, Peru – Duke field hockey senior Margaux Paolino and the U.S. women’s national team captured Pan American Games bronze Friday with a 5-1 defeat of Chile.
Following a first quarter of action that resulted in a 1-1 tie, Team USA opened up the scoring with three tallies in the second quarter.
The squad bounced back in resounding fashion following a loss to Canada in Tuesday’s semifinals.
Paolino, a two-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America selection for the Blue Devils, was in the starting lineup for the U.S. throughout the tournament. The bronze marked Paolino’s second medal with a U.S. squad, as she previously won silver with the U.S. U21 team at the 2016 Junior Pan American Games.
Team USA will continue to chase Olympic qualification for Toyko 2020 this fall.
