DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke fencing team received its third signee for the 2018-19 recruiting class as Huda Aldahah signed her National Letter of Intent (NLI) to compete for the Blue Devils.
Aldahah, a native of Peoria, Ill., comes to Duke from Dunlap High School and brings epee fencing experience from the local, national and international levels.
Aldahah placed 12th at the 2017 Cadet Circuit in Grenoble, France and finished 13th at the same event in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Throughout the years, Aldahah has competed in several North American Cups (NAC). In 2016, Aldahah posted two sixth-place finishes at the October Cadet NAC and the November Cadet NAC. At the Cadet Junior Olympics, Aldahah captured bronze in 2015 and 2016.
Off the fencing strips, Aldahah is president of her school’s TED talk club, mentors a child with “Big Brother Big Sister,” volunteers at a local Islamic center and is a freshman advisor at her high school.
Additionally, Aldahah is a member of the National Honors Society and loves watching and playing basketball and playing cards.
