DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke fencing team received its second signee for the 2018-19 recruiting class as foilist Zoe Superville signed her National Letter of Intent to compete for the Blue Devils last week.
Superville comes to Durham from Woodmere, N.Y., and currently attends G.W. Hewlett High School. Superville is a member of the Brooklyn Bridge Fencing Club and has competed in junior, division I and division IA events throughout the years.
In junior competition, Superville notched 17th at the 2017 Junior Olympic Fencing Championships and 21st at the November North American Cup (NAC) in 2015.
At the division I level, Superville placed sixth at the Brooklyn Fencing January Foil Open in 2017 and posted a top-50 performance at the 2016 December NAC.
On the division IA side, Superville finished fifth in 2015 at the Thrust Fall Regional Open Circuit (ROC) and sixth at the American Challenge ROC in 2016. Additionally, Superville has seen action at the USA Fencing National Championships and July Challenge, the 2016 Jeff Wolfe Long Island ROC and at several other NACs.
Outside of fencing, Superville is an advanced pianist and has achieved levels 1-5 at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA). Superville has been a member of the school jazz band for three years as a drummer and pianist, and is bilingual in English and Spanish.
