DURHAM, N.C. – A pair of transfers will be calling Durham home in 2020, as Duke softball head coach Marissa Young announced the additions of Sydney Bolan and Kendyl Lange on Wednesday.

Bolan joins the Blue Devils after spending last two seasons as an infielder and pitcher at Central Connecticut, while Lange makes her way to Durham after two years at Central Florida as an infielder.

“Transfers have been an integral part of our program’s success the last two years and we are excited to continue adding experienced players to our roster,” Young said. “We are excited to add Kendyl to team three. She has been a longtime diehard Duke sports fan, so it’s exciting to see her donning a Blue Devil uniform. She will add both depth to our middle infield and speed to our offensive line-up.

“We’re also thrilled to welcome Sydney to the Duke softball family. She comes to us after two good years of offense production and we look for her to add some power to our lineup. Sydney brings a hunger to compete at a high level and we excited to make her a Blue Devil.”

A native of Fairport, N.Y., Bolan is a two-time Northeast Conference First Team honoree that has been a stud for the Blue Devils offensively in her two seasons. Bolan starred mostly as a designated player in 2019, playing in all 41 games with a .338 clip and team-high 10 home runs. She also totaled a team-leading 39 RBI and 44 hits. Bolan started off her collegiate career in impressive fashion in 2018, playing in all 49 games and totaling 43 hits while leading her squad with eight homers.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join Duke’s softball program this fall,” Bolan said. “I’m honored to have this opportunity and I can’t wait to get on the field with the team. I am extremely thrilled and ready for the new challenges and opportunities that transferring to Duke brings.”

Lange comes to Durham after playing in 32 games last year at UCF, recording nine runs and five hits while stealing a pair of bases. The Hallettsville, Texas, native played in 31 games in 2018, scoring 14 runs and stealing two bases as the Knights primary pinch runner.

“I am so grateful to be joining the Duke softball family and cannot wait to step on the field with the girls,” Lange said. “Having the opportunity to impact the legacy and culture here is very exciting. To be a part of Duke University both academically and athletically is going to be a great experience and I’m looking forward to the next two years.”
