Jasmine Thomas’ Hosts Cancer Fund Event 

Jasmine Thomas held an event to raise funds for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, and there were quite a few familiar faces in attendance. Former Blue Devil Krystal Thomas-Smith was invited by Thomas to speak at the event. 



Iciss Tillis Moves on to a Different Kind of Court

Iciss Tillis retired from the WNBA in 2011 after a career of reaching the Final Four at Duke and playing in nearly a dozen countries. But another career is only getting started. Tillis entered Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law, and later earned a Masters and LLM in sports management. Read full article here.


Alana Beard Playing Again

The back-to-back WNBA Defensive Player of the Year finally saw the court again this week after being sidelined with a hamstring injury. Alana Beard has been out since July 12, and both her and her LA Sparks’ squad are thrilled to have her back on court. The Sparks have won three games in a row and are starting to peak at the right time.


Duke in the WNBA… 

Chelsea Gray, ‘14

Gray and her Los Angeles Sparks squad won all three games at home this week. The team faced the Connecticut Suns, the Indiana Fever, and the Minnesota Lynx. Gray had her best performance Tuesday night against the with 17 points and four boards. 



Elizabeth Williams, ‘15

Williams and the Atlanta Dream defeated the Dallas Wings Sunday night, 77-73. Williams contributed six points and six boards to the victory. The Dream have won two games in a row.


Jasmine Thomas, ‘11

Thomas and the Connecticut Suns had one win and one loss this week. The Suns defeated the Las Vegas Aces at home, but fell to the Los Angeles Sparks on the road. Thomas has 10 points and five assists against the Sparks, and four points and eight assists against the Aces. 


Lexie Brown, ‘18

Lexie Brown and the Minnesota Lynx defeated the Las Vegas Aces and the Dallas Wings at home, and fell to the Los Angeles Sparks on the road. Brown had her best performance of the week in the loss against the Sparks, playing 20 minutes and scoring 20 points. She was three-for-three from the line.
