DURHAM, N.C.— Having already made his mark as one of the country’s best freshmen, freshman Gary Trent, Jr. has proven to be one of Duke’s best long-range shooters with 29 3-pointers through 13 games.
Thrilled to be a part of the program and especially this year’s talented lineup, Trent, Jr. has been able to advance his skills and knowledge of the game.
“These first games, these 10, 11, 12 games we’ve played in, I’ve learned a lot,” Trent, Jr. said. “It’s been great, and I’m glad to be here.”
Head coach Mike Krzyzewski is also happy that his guard is here, acknowledging the abilities he has seen translate from practice to games.
“Gary’s been as good, or probably even a little bit better than I thought he would be this early,” Krzyzewski said. “He’s adapting to this level and playing with other good guys.”
