DURHAM, N.C. – The duo of redshirt junior Leah Meyer and graduate student Andie Shelton collected All-ACC Academic Team honors for the 2018 campaign, which was announced by the league office Wednesday.

An ACVA All-America honorable mention pick, Meyer ranked third in the ACC and 14th nationally in blocks per set with 1.44—the third-highest single-season average in program history. The Clarence, N.Y., native became just the ninth Blue Devil to reach 400 career blocks with a nine-block performance in Duke’s win over fifth-ranked Pittsburgh. She owned a career-best .375 hitting percentage, while totaling 271 kills on her way to earning All-ACC first team honors.

Another first team All-ACC honoree and ACVA All-America honorable mention pick, Shelton enjoyed an impressive 2018 campaign, including an 11-kill, 27-assist and 15-dig performance in the Tiger Classic opener versus USF, recording Duke’s first triple-double since Ali Hausfeld in 2006. The Stockton, Calif., native went on to post five more triple-doubles, totaling six on the season, and earned ACC Player of the Week on two occasions. She helped lead Duke to a 3-0 weekend at the Tiger Classic, garnering tournament MVP and best setter accolades for her performances.

The 2018 All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team has 34 honorees, with 12 different institutions represented. Louisville led the league with six selections, followed by four from Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech. Syracuse had three honorees, while Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, NC State and Virginia had two, and Clemson had one student-athlete selected.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
