GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Duke women’s cross country team had junior Sheridan Wilbur finish in sixth place at the ECU Pirates Invite on Friday.
Duke had three runners take part in the Pirates Invite. Leading the way was Wilbur who clocked a time of 22:07.56 to come in sixth place.
Not far behind Wilbur was freshman Leigha Torino who came in 12th place. Torino finished the six kilometer course in 22:29.24. Rounding out the Duke trio was sophomore Veronica Brtek who had a time of 23:53.29.
“The women ran well,” said assistant coach Daniel Goetz. “They got out smart and stayed competitive. They did a good job throughout the race staying in contact with the front group.”
Duke will race once more this weekend as the Blue Devils are in Louisville, Ky., for the Pre Nationals on Saturday morning.
