NORFOLK, Va. – Head coach Fred Chao announced his final addition to the 2019 class on Wednesday afternoon. Hailey Duncan joins the inaugural women’s volleyball squad as a sophomore transferring from University of Illinois at Chicago.

“We are thrilled to add Hailey to our first class.” explained Chao. “Hailey is a dynamic athlete who brings Division I experience. Being from the area, she will have the opportunity to play in front of friends and family. We will look for her to be an offensive weapon as well as a strong blocker.”

Duncan is a Chesapeake, Virginia native. She is a middle blocker who was named to the Monitor-Merrimac First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Region as a senior in high school. Her junior year, Duncan earned a spot on the Monitor-Merrimac Second Team All-Conference.

Academically, Duncan earned a 4.8 GPA and finished fourth in her class at Western Branch High School. She was a member of the National Honors Society for two years as well as a member of the Virginian Pilot Scholastic Team for three consecutive years.
