Winters earns another MEAC Athlete of the Week

NORFOLK, Va., October 19, 2011 - Florida A&M junior Shuaib Winters and Bethune-Cookman junior Kadian Dunkley were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) Men's and Women's Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Winters (Jr., Conyers, Ga.) finished in second with a time of 25:04.12 at the UCF Black and Gold Challenge. His finish marked the sixth time this season that Winters has finished among the top five in a meet. As a team the Ratters were third out of 12 teams.

Dunkley (Jr., Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned a second place finish with a time of 22:40.90 on the 6K course at the UCF Black and Gold Invitational last week. The junior has finished among the top five in five meets this season.

Other Top Performers:

Cynthia Anais (UMES) paced the Lady Hawks with a sixth place finish in 24:20.83 at the Delaware Blue & Gold Invitational.

Zavior Brown (UMES) was eighth at the Delaware Blue & Gold Invite with a time of 27:40.64.

Irene Cherubet (CSU) finished third overall at the Goucher Cross Country Classic with a time 25:29.

Nynneya Columbus (MSU) ran a time of 26:18.18 at the Delaware Blue & Gold Invitational.

Kouri Falconer (DSU) captured the gold on the 5K course at the DSU Invitational with a time of 15:52.21.

Mowatt Giovani (Howard) was 11th at the Delaware Blue & Gold Invitational with at time of 27:58.04.

Kendra Mayers (DSU) won the DSU Invitational with a time of 20:48.45 on the 5K course.

Nadie Mulvany (FAMU) was eighth with a time of 23:23.57 at the UCF Black and Gold Challenge.

Jaleel Rogers (Hampton) paced the Pirates with at time of 29:20.00 at the Panther Cross Country Classic.

Kellen Rutto (NSU) finished 13th at the William & Mary Tribe Invite with a time of 23:43.

Paris Simmons (NCAT) won the NCCU Cross Country Classic with a time of 26:45.58 on the men's 5K course.

Christian Smooth (MSU) led MSU at the Delaware Blue & Gold Invitational with a time of 28:12.25 top place 13th overall.

Josef Tessema (NSU) was NSU's top finisher at the Panorama Farms Invite with a time of 25:17.41.

Devyn Thompson (Hampton) paced the Lady Pirates with a time of 23:51.00 at the William & Mary Tribe Invite.
