Southern Drops Game One in Miami Holiday Classic to Washington State 69-54

Miami, FL. - Senior Brittany Rose finished the night with 10 points for the Jaguars but that wasn't enough as Southern drops one on the road, as Washington State defeated SU 69-54 at the Miami Holiday Classic Friday afternoon.

Raven White contributed eleven points in 28 minutes of play. Alyric Scott shot 50 percent from the field finishing with seven points and a team-high four rebounds for the Jaguars.  

SU went into the locker room trailing, 33-32. SU shot 37 percent for the game (23-for-63) and 15 percent from three-point range (2-13). The Jaguars shot 55 percent from free throw line (6-11). Southern turned over Rutgers eighteen times picking up fourteen points.

Next up, the Jaguars will close out the visit to South Beach as they take on UNC Asheville Saturday at 4:30 PM.

Southern will return home and enjoy the Christmas Holidays before getting ready to start conference play on the road January 4th in Houston, Tx as the defending SWAC Champions open up against Texas Southern.
