Hornets Seniors Sweep Weekly Honors

The Alabama State Hornets sweep weekly honors with several top finishes at the Gene Anderson Invitational in Chapel Hill, North Carolina last weekend.

On the men's side, Vincent Butler earns Runner of the Week after a huge weekend in Chapel Hill. The senior runner grabbed a first-place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 22.10 and second place in the 400m dash crossing the finish line at 48.00 flat. Butler finished his strong performance running the first leg of the 4x400m relay, where he led the Hornets to a second place finish and a time of 3:26.49.

Teammate Isiah Golson is Field Athlete of the Week with his second place finish in the men's High Jump, recording a mark of 1.93m.

For the women, Tia Rolle earns Runner of the Week after earning two first place finishes at the Gene Anderson Invitational. Rolle, a senior from Nassau, ran the Women's 60m dash in just 7.54, and finished the 200m dash with a time of 24.40.

Rounding out the Hornets' impressive weekend, Shexnieva Bryant grabs Women's Field Athlete of Week after a solid performance in the weight throw, taking first place with a distance of 17.56m. Bryant completed another top-five finish, earning fourth in the shot put with a distance of 11.94m.
