The Prairie View A&M bowling team capped off a history making campaign as they finished the year ranked 19th nationally in the National Tenpin Coaches Association Final National Poll which is the official poll for ranking the 20 best NCAA women's bowling teams in the nation.

Expectations were high as the 2011-12 season opened as the Lady Panthers began the season ranked 20th in the NTCA Preseason Poll in October.  Playing against the top teams in the country on a monthly basis, the team had its ups-and-downs once the season began but learned from the various experiences once SWAC play began in January.

In SWAC play, the Lady Panthers rolled through their competition as they won the SWAC West crown for the second straight season.  After two straight years as the runner-up in the championship round of SWAC Championship play, the Lady Panthers achieved the biggest milestone in program history as they captured the 2012 SWAC Bowling Championship for the first time ever.  They followed up their historic championship run with a solid performance at the prestigious Music City Classic in Tennessee to solidify their national ranking.

"I feel very good about our ranking as one of the top 20 teams in the country," said head coach Glenn White.  "As a team, we were able to accomplish the two goals that we set at the beginning of the year. One was to win the SWAC Championship and the other was to be ranked among the top 20. We want to continue with that goal of winning our conference but the ultimate goal is a national championship and I feel we are not that far away. We lost a lot of close matches this year to teams ahead of us in the polls which included the 2012 National Champions in Maryland-Eastern Shore.  If we move some of those losses to the win column we can be selected for the NCAA Championship Tournament. Hopefully, we can continue to build from this championship season and make being champions a part of our competitive DNA."
