POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Seniors Joanna Foss (Northville, Mich.) and Leeann Harridsleff (Simi Valley, Calif.) of the Marist volleyball team have each been named CoSIDA/Capital One First Team Academic All-District.

A fifth-year senior, this is the second Academic All-District honor in Foss' career, as she was named to the Second Team in 2009. She was also a Second Team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) selection in 2008, and earned the President's Academic Achievement Award for highest grade-point average at the 2011 Marist Senior Awards Banquet. Foss became the first player in program history to exceed 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career, and finished her career second in program history with 1,400 kills.

Harridsleff, a Biomedical Sciences major, is a two-time selection to the MAAC All-Academic Team. This season, she played in 27 matches while making 11 starts. She finished fifth on the team in total kills with 120, and fourth on the team in total blocks with 46.

The selections of Foss and Harridsleff give the Marist volleyball program a total of eight Academic All-District selections in the last four years. As an institution, Marist has nine Academic All-District selections this fall.

In order to be eligible for the Academic All-District teams, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or key reserve on their team while having at least sophomore standing academically.

By earning First Team honors, Foss and Harridsleff are now eligible for the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released on Dec. 15.
