POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y - Michelle Fountain (Sayville, N.Y.) of the Marist Swimming and Diving team was named to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-American At-Large Team on Thursday. Fountain, who majored in Education/Psychology, graduated from Marist last month.

Following her All-District nod on May 21, Fountain was chosen to the Third Team from a field that included At-Large honorees from across the nation. This marks the 15th time a Marist student-athlete has earned Academic All-America accolades. Fountain is also the first Marist swimmer in school history to earn this exclusive honor.

In 2012, she won her first-ever individual MAAC Championship as she won the 500-yd freestyle title over teammate Kate Conard with a time of 4:55.65. With four relay titles this past season, Fountain closed her Red Fox career with 10 team titles. Her 200-, 400- and 800-yd freestyle and 400-yd medley relay teams are etched atop the Marist record books with the best times in program history.

This year's At-Large field consisted of athletes from swimming & diving, lacrosse, ice hockey, gymnastics, tennis, water polo, crew, golf, skiing, fencing and rifle.
