POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y - Recent graduate Michelle Fountain (Sayville, N.Y.) and rising-senior Kate Conard (East Setauket, N.Y.) of the Marist swim team were named to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District At-Large First Team for their prowess in both the pool and in the classroom. Two of 11 student-athletes voted onto the District 1 team, Fountain and Conard are the only swimmers recognized in the region that encompasses New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Fountain, a recent-graduate with education/psychology degree was an 11-time MAAC Champion and three-time MAAC All-Academic honoree. The 2012 MAAC Champion in the 500-yd freestyle with a time of 4:55.65, Fountain won 10 conference titles as a member of relay teams. Her name is etched in the Marist record books with the program-best times as a member of the 200-, 400- and 800-yd freestyle relays, as well as the 400-yd medley relay team.

Conard is a 17-time MAAC Champion, two-time MAAC Most Outstanding Swimmer and a two-time conference All-Academic team honoree. An individual title-holder of the 2010: 500-, 1000-, 1650-yd, 2011: 500-, 1000-, 1650-yd and 2012: 1000- and 1650-yd freestyle championships, Conard has augmented her individual success with nine relay titles. Conard, a psychology/special education major, finds her name atop the Marist record books with top individual times in the 200-, 500-, 1000- and 1650-yd freestyle, as well as the 200-, 400-, 800-yd freestyle and 400-yd medley relays. For her success during the 2011 season, Conard qualified for the U.S. National Championships in the 1000-yd freestyle and made the NCAA B Standard cut in the 500- and 1650-yd freestyle.     


Marist Women's Swimming and Diving
