COLLEGE STATION, Texas - No. 10 Texas A&M (20-6. 10-2) looks to get back on the winning path against Ole Miss (9-16, 2-10) Thursday night at 7:00 pm (CT) at Reed Arena. Thursday will be youth basketball jersey night, any youth wearing their basketball jersey can stop by the Reed Arena ticket office to receive free tickets.
The Aggies and Rebels have split the two previous meetings, both taking place at neutral venues (Anchorage, Alaska & Philadelphia, Penn.). Ole Miss won the most recent match-up 82-79 in Anchorage. The Rebels are coming off a 62-47 defeat at home to South Carolina. Valencia McFarland led Ole Miss with 19 points, six rebounds and four assists while Tia Faleru scored 14 points and added seven rebounds.
Texas A&M is coming off a defeat Monday night 70-66 at the hands of No. 7 Kentucky. The Aggies were led by freshman Courtney Walker's 20 points, 16 of which were in the second half including A&M's final 10 points. The maroon and white stormed back from 14 points down to cut the Wildcats lead to just two points with four seconds remaining. Senior Kristi Bellock registered her sixth double-double this season, tied for the ninth most in the SEC this season, with 12 points and a career high 15 rebounds, senior Adrienne Pratcher was the only other Aggie in double digits scoring with 12 points in a career high 37 minutes.
Pratcher is currently second in the NCAA in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.9), according to the latest NCAA stats release on Feb. 17. The Aggies lead the SEC in field goal percentage, three-point field goal percentage, assist-to-turnover ratio and assists per game heading into the matchup with Ole Miss. Individually, Bone leads the SEC in field goal percentage (third nationally) and rebounding along with ranking third in scoring, the only player to rank in the top-5 of each category.
