2012-13 (SENIOR): Outdoor Track – Finished as silver medalist in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a school record time of 8:23.16 for eight points at the NCAA Outdoor Championships despite falling at the final water barrier … Also placed eighth in the 5,000 meters (13:58.55) on the final day of the meet to earn the Aggies another key point in team scoring as Texas A&M shared the NCAA Championship with Florida … Broke his own school record in the steeplechase three times during the season and toppled a 1985 school record in the 5,000 meters … Won his fourth SEC title in the school year with a victory in the steeplechase (8:38.11) and placed second in the 5,000 meters (13:58.02) … Became the first Aggie to win the Penn Relays 5,000 with a personal best of 13:45.30 to break the 1985 A&M school record of 13:46.37 held by Arturo Barrios and recorded the fastest winning time at Penn since 1995 … Set his second school record in the 3,000m steeplechase at the NCAA West preliminary round, running a time of 8:27.62 at midnight after the meet had been delayed numerous hours from inclement weather in Austin … Bettered his previous best of 8:38.90 in the steeplechase to win the Oregon Pepsi Invitational amid the rain with a 8:32.94 meet record … Produced a best of 3:44.78 to win 1,500 at Arkansas McDonnell Invitational and ran 800m in 1:50.05 to place second at LSU Alumni Gold … Anchored the Aggie distance medley relay to a runner-up finish at Texas Relays (9:41.34) with a 4:05.1 split and 10th place effort at Penn Relays (9:48.40).
Indoor Track – Earned All-America honor for fifth-place finish in 3,000 meters (7:49.80) at NCAA Indoor Championships … High point scorer at SEC Indoor Championships, winning the 3,000 (7:57.57) and 5,000 meters (13:54.33) while anchoring the Aggie distance medley relay to a runner-up finish… Broke four school records during the indoor campaign in the mile (4:00.41), 3,000 (7:55.80 & 7:47.91) and 5,000 (13:54.33) … Set the mile record of 4:00.41 in placing second at the Texas A&M Mondo Challenge to better his previous mark of 4:01.49 … First broke his 3,000m record with a 7:55.80 to win the Texas A&M Invitational in February and then lowered it to 7:47.91 in setting a meet record at Notre Dame’s Alex Wilson Invitational in March … Without a seed time for the 5K at the SEC Indoor, Lelei ran in the first section and powered to a winning time of 13:54.33 with a solo effort that bettered the previous mark of 13:56.47 set by Kevin Burnett in 2012 … Also claimed a victory in the 3,000 (8:03.71) at the Armory Collegiate Invitational in New York City … Lelei anchored the A&M distance medley relay at the SEC Indoor with a 4:11.56 split as the Aggies finished second in 9:51.10 behind Arkansas’ 9:50.67.
Cross Country - Finished fifth at the NCAA Championships with a time of 29:14.8 over 10,000 meters on the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park course in Louisville, Kentucky ... Lelei established the highest NCAA cross country finish by a Texas A&M athlete while earning a second consecutive All-America honor in cross country, and his fourth as an Aggie ... Lelei also recorded the fastest time by a SEC athlete at the NCAA Championships since Alistair Cragg of Arkansas posted a time of 29:06.0 as the individual runner-up in 2002 ... Lelei produced the third top 10 finish by a SEC athlete over the past six years and he is the 10th top 10 finisher from the conference since 2000 ... Defended his NCAA South Central region title and earned a second Athlete of the Year as voted on by region coaches ... Won the South Central title by nearly five seconds on a 10,000 meter course at Arkansas' Agri Park, clocking a time of 29:36.5 as Texas A&M finished third in team scoring ... Awarded men's SEC Runner of the Year after claiming top individual finish at the conference meet hosted by Vanderbilt ... Ran a time of 23:29.95 on 8,000-meter course at Percy Warner Park to become A&M's first SEC champion, winning the title by 17.5 seconds in leading the Aggies to a third-place tie in team scoring ... 2011-2012 (JUNIOR): Outdoor Track - Earned his third All-America honor of the season by placing fourth (8:42.07) in the 3,000m Steeplechase at the NCAA Championships ... On his way to a second-place finish in the national meet, but fell at the last barrier ...Opened the outdoor season with a PR of 13:50.03 to win the 5,000m at the USC Trojan Invitational ... Set a pair of school records in the steeplechase while winning the Oregon Pepsi Team Invitational (8:45.80) and then the Big 12 Championships with a 8:38.90 ... Neared his PR and school record to win his NCAA semifinal heat with a 8:39.09 ... Finished second in the 1,500 (3:46.83) at the LSU Alumni Gold ... Anchored the distance medley relay, with a 4:02.80 split, to an outdoor school record of 9:35.36 to claim Texas A&M's first-ever victory in this event at the Texas Relays ... Ran anchor leg as Aggies placed 11th in Penn Relays (9:48.91).
Indoor Track -Member of the Aggie distance medley relay team that finished seventh at the NCAA Indoor Championships ... Lelei anchored the relay with a 3:58.67 split ... Set the A&M school record in the mile, clocking 4:01.49 to win the New Balance Collegiate race in New York City ... Set a then PR of 4:04.66 to win mile in dual meet with LSU ... Ran in mile prelim (4:13.80) at Big 12 meet, but didn't advance to the final ... Finished eighth in the 3,000m at the Big 12 meet with a time of 8:04.72 ... Broke the Aggie school record in 3,000m with a 8:01.01 for second place in the Texas A&M Mondo Challenge ... Member of distance medley relay that broke the school record with a 9:29.71 victory at New Balance Collegiate meet, anchoring the win with a 3:57.2 split ... In becoming the 11th fastest school ever in the event, the Aggies bettered the facility and meet records at the Armory ... Also anchored the distance medley relay to a Big 12 title in a meet record of 9:40.75.
Cross Country - Earned All-America honors with a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Championships as Texas A&M placed 18th in team scoring ... At the South Central Region in Waco Lelei covered the 10,000-meter course in 30:09.4 seconds to win the race by nearly nine seconds over Arkansas' Eric Fernandez (30:18.0), the SEC individual champion ... That effort assisted the Aggies in placing second as a team to earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Championship field ... Paced the Aggie fourth-place team effort at Big 12 Championships with a third-place finish in a time of 23:29.7 that netted Big 12 Newcomer honors.
JUNIOR COLLEGE: The 2010 NJCAA champion and 2011 runner-up in the steeplechase while competing for Central Arizona, Lelei sports personal best times of 3:45.58 (1500), 14:13.75 (5000) and 8:50.17 (steeplechase). He also claimed silver medals at the NJCAA in the 1500 (2010) along with bronze medals in the 800 (2011), 1500 (2011), and 5000 (2010).
In cross country Lelei won the 2010 NJCAA title with a time of 23 minutes, 29 seconds, over an 8,000-meter course after placing second in the 2009 race. Lelei enjoyed a 25-second winning margin as Central Arizona placed second and just missed the team title by six points.
