Today's Rundown

9:30 AM – Offensive Media Day: The first day of 2013 started with a trip to the Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas to meet with the media. This time, it was the offense's turn to take the podium. The list from A&M included Coach Sumlin, Johnny Manziel, Luke Joeckel, Ben Malena, Uzoma Nwachukwu, and Ryan Swope. You can find audio and video from Tuesday's media event right here on the bowl central page, located just above this blog.

12:00 PM – Practice Report #3: It was another two hour practice at the Highland Park indoor facility. After today, the Aggies will hold the remaining practices at Cowboys Stadium.

5:00 PM – Lawry's Beef Bowl: Dinner was served in massive proportions at the Lawry Beef Bowl. The Texas A&M football team strolled over to Lawry's The Prime Rib restaurant for the 30th annual Beef Bowl. The tradition around this event has grown over the years into one of the highlights of the entire Cotton Bowl trip. An interesting note that was passed on by the folks at Lawry's is that Texas A&M has now appeared in more Beef Bowl's than any other school. This was A&M's 10th appearance.

7:00 PM – Back To The Hotel: That's it for the day. We'll have more from Dallas tomorrow.

Today's Rundown

9:30 AM – Defensive Media Day: For the next three days, members of the Texas A&M team and coaches meet with the media at the official media hotel. Today, it was the defenses turn to go. D-Coordinator Mark Snyder led the event off with an opening statement. From there, they broke out into individual breakout sessions. Sean Porter, Damontre Moore, Steven Terrell, Spencer Nealy, and Jonathan Stewart were all there to field questions. Two of the biggest media huddles were formed around Damontre Moore and Spencer Nealy. Moore announced the day before that he would be entering the NFL draft following his junior season. Nealy entertained the media with stories from his four year career, adding that he wants to end this thing on high note with a win over the Sooners.

10:45 AM – Off To Practice: The rest of the team boarded the buses at the team hotel and headed to SMU to change into practice gear. Due to rainy conditions in the DFW area, practice was moved to the Highland Park High School indoor practice facility. But first, the Aggies had to utilize the locker facilities at SMU to get ready.

12:00 PM – Practice Report #2: The Aggies were in full pads once again. This time, they practiced for a full two hours. It was a neat environment inside the Highland Park indoor practice field. This first rate facility allowed the Aggies to go full speed on the 70 yard shortened field. One of the highlights from the day was when Derell Walker made a spectacular catch over De'Vante Harris. Coverage was perfect, but Walker made an adjustment on his route and brought in the catch.

2:30 PM – Lunch On The Go: After practice, the Aggies returned to SMU to shower up and grab a quick bite to eat. Sack lunches were waiting for them as they loaded the buses. They didn't have long because it was off to another special event.

3:00 PM – Aggies Visit Children's Hospital: It was another special event the players will always remember. They entire Texas A&M football team headed into the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. It was an incredible moment when the team walked through the doors, and was greeted by the massive group of hospital employees and patients. One hospital staff member said that this was the largest crowd ever gathered to greet a Cotton Bowl team. The team interacted with the children, giving them a gift and signing autographs. The Heisman Trophy was there as well for pictures. Coach Sumlin was presented with a drawing created by a girl named Eva. You can see the drawing by following Coach Sumlin's twitter account, @CoachSumlin. You can see highlights of the event by watching 12thManTV's daily recap. It includes video of the Texas A&M captains walking room to room to visit with children in the hospital. Johnny Manziel joined the group as well.

5:00 PM – Main Event: The Aggies went straight to the Main Event after leaving the children's hospital. The Aggies had free reign over the fun center. Some guys were showing off their billiards game, while others took to the bowling lanes. It was the final official event of the day and nice way for the team to relax. Keep checking into AggieAthletics.com for the latest official coverage of the Texas A&M Cotton Bowl trip.

Today's Rundown

8:30 AM - Breakfast Is Served: The guys had a great start to the day with a team breakfast at the hotel.

9:45 AM - Media Day: Players and coaches made their way back to Cowboy Stadium to meet the media and take a team picture. The Aggies sported their road, white uniform tops for the pic.

10:45 - Spencer Takes The Mic: Senior defensive tackle, Spencer Nealy, took over 12thManTV's mic and grabbed a few interviews of his own. Let's just say Spencer didn't mind interrupting the interviews. Make sure you watch the video recap of Spencer's media invasion here on the bowl central page.

11:45 AM - Practice Preparation: Back at the hotel, the Aggies ate lunch and broke out into their position meeting rooms for some pre-practice prep.

2:00 PM - Let's Go To Practice: Position meetings concluded around 2:00 in the afternoon. The guys had about 15 minutes of down time before they loaded the buses to make their way to the SMU campus for practice #1 in Dallas.

3:00 PM - Practice Report #1: The excitement around the Cotton Bowl could be felt on the grass practice fields at SMU. The Aggies were greeted by a few hundred fans as they made the short walk from the locker room to the practice field. The fans were welcome to stay and watch the hour long practice. It was an up-tempo, full-pad practice. Of course, the Texas A&M equipment and video crew had the portable speakers out in full force for this one. With music blaring, the Aggies wrapped up practice around 4:15 in the afternoon.

5:00 PM – Team Pizza Party & Autograph Party: Members of the official team travel party were invited to the Stemmons Ballroom at the team hotel for a private pizza party and autograph session with the team. Both players and staff were passing around Cotton Bowl autograph footballs and posing for pictures. The team was able to put down the Sharpie's for a few minutes to eat pizza and have a little fun.

6:30 PM – Spurs vs. Mavs: For the final event of the night, the team headed over to American Airlines Center to take in some NBA action. This event is always one of the most popular amongst the players. Something tells me that most of the Mav fans on the team were also keeping a close eye on the Cowboys score throughout the night. Well, that does it for today. Check back in tomorrow. We have another full day ahead.

6:00 PM – Depart For Cowboys Stadium Welcome: Behind a police escort, the six bus entourage made its way to Cowboy Stadium for the week's opening event.

6:45 PM – Dinner Is Served: After a little pre-dinner entertainment at Cowboy Stadium, both travel parties for Texas A&M and Oklahoma enjoyed a feast on the concourse. Players had a chance to take pictures with the Cotton Bowl trophy and the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders.

7:30 PM – Larger Than Life Production: To finish out the program at the Cowboy Stadium Welcome, members of both schools relocated to the 50-yard line to watch a video presentation hosted by none other than Jerry Jones. The video detailed the history of the Cotton Bowl before diving into a season recap for both teams.

8:15 PM – Home For The Night: The Aggies returned to the Hilton Anatole after about a 20-minute bus ride. Time to get a little rest… We have a full day in store tomorrow, starting with the team media day at 10:30 in the morning. Of course, we will have all the coverage from that event and much more from behind the scenes at the team hotel. Keep checking in with AggieAtheltics.com for daily updates.
