John de Mailly is in his third year on the staff of Texas A&M University's football team. As a nationally certified and state licensed athletic trainer, his responsibilities include assisting in daily operations of the Bright Athletic Training Room and medical coverage of all participating Aggies on the football team. Not missing a season of football since 2004, John will continue to draw on his experiences to the benefit of the athletes.
John received a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of South Carolina in 2011. After graduating, he accepted a year internship as the athletic trainer for South Carolina's cheerleading team. He continued working with cheerleading after being hired by Varsity Brands as a camp administrator and athletic trainer running camps across the country. John comes to Texas A&M bringing his knowledge and experience of working with various sports and athletic trainers of the SEC. He plans to continue his education by receiving a Masters in Sports Management from Texas A&M University.
John is always striving to improve his ability to help athletes perform at the elite level. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and is certified in Graston and functional release, two specialized massage and manual therapy techniques. His research interests include studying the effects of concussion protocols for return to play and hydration as well as how it affects performance.
Born and raised in South Carolina, John began his work toward becoming an athletic trainer while still in high school. Outside of work and studying, his time is spent with friends and family. He enjoys watersports, playing golf, watching movies with friends and traveling.
