Brookings, S.D.- The University of Northern Iowa swimming and diving team fell to both South Dakota State and Nebraska-Omaha this afternoon in Brookings, South Dakota. The Panthers lost to South Dakota State 192-103 and lost to Nebraska-Omaha 162-108.
Bethany Olson won both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive. Olson finished the 1-meter with 242.48 points and the 3-meter with 271.88 points. Teammate Morgan Kinney earned third in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive.
Chelsea Hartman placed second in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:38.57. Teammate Reva Bork finished fifth with a time of 11:03.38. Hartman took fourth in the 500 freestyle, clocking in at 5:19.70.
Natalie Johnson was runner-up in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:11.03. She also took third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.24. Teammate Jamie Pearson was fourth in the 100 backstroke, clocking in at 1:01.97. Pearson also took third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.69.
Caryn Knight took third in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:29.84. Teammate Stephanie Paape was sixth in this event with a time of 2:31.21. Knight also placed fifth in the 100 breaststroke, clocking in at 109.42.
In the 400 yard medley relay, the team of Natalie Johnson, Caryn Knight, Jamie Pearson and Elise Drewsen took the runner-up spot with a time of 4:03.33
The Panthers will return to the pool on January 28th when they head to Normal, Illinois to face the Illinois State Redbirds.
