Jacqueline Marcott was hired as New Mexico's Community Relations and Spirit Coordinator in July 2013. She oversees the Spirit program's student-athletes and coaching staff, the UNM Athletics Community Service process and the Junior Lobo Kid's Club.
Marcott, a native of Socorro, N.M., was a UNM Chaparral from 1993-1996 . She left UNM to become one of America's Sweethearts, a world-famous Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader from 1996-98. Marcott returned to Albuquerque in 1998 and became the Chaparral dance team coach from 1998-99. She then went on to become the director of the Pom Squad at Southern Methodist University from 1999-2002.
Marcott has over 10 years of experience directing, coaching, judging and choreographing for cheer and dance teams at different levels. She maintained a close relationship with the UNM Spirit program as an active alumnus and judge for yearly try outs.
She is a graduate of the University of New Mexico, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology with a minor in psychology.
Jeanine Gallegos - Chaparral Dance Coach
Jeanine Gallegos was hired as New Mexico's Chaparral Dance Coach in July 2007.
Gallegos is in charge of choreography and guides the Chaparral dance team through performances for football, basketball and volleyball in addition to handling some operations duties for the spirit and dance program.
A native of Albuquerque, N.M., Gallegos has been a dancer at Fishback Studio of the Dance for 29 years, and has been a teacher at Fishback for the last 13 years. She has taught guest classes at several studios throughout New Mexico, and has traveled all over the United States as a competitor and teacher at many dance competitions. She graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, while on the nationally ranked UNM All-Girl cheer team for five years. During that time she was also an NDA dance instructor. Prior to joining UNM Spirit & Dance as a coach, she worked as a personal trainer and manager of Gold's Gym for two years (2005-07). Gallegos also earned her Special Education teaching license from UNM and in addition to coaching the Lobos, works at Sierra Vista Elementary where she has been an educator since 2007.
Courtney Schwartz - Assistant Chaparral Dance Coach
Courtney Schwartz joined the UNM Spirit Program in July 2013 as the assistant dance coach.
Schwartz assists with choreographing and cleaning routines while helping improve student-athletes' dance technique and performance.
The Albuquerque, N.M., native ran track and cross country in high school and was on the Lobo dance team for three years while attending UNM. Schwartz earned the Lobos' Most Improved Dancer (2011), Most Valuable Veteran (2012) and Outstanding Senior (2013) during her collegiate career.
She also danced for the Storm Chasers, part of the former Albuquerque NBA D-League Thunderbirds organization.
Schwartz graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education with an endorsement in math. She enjoys running in her free time.
Dustin Truitt - Co-Ed Cheerleading Coach
Tabitha Griego - Assistant Co-Ed Cheerleading Coach
Tabitah Griego was hired as New Mexico's Assistant Co-Ed Cheerleading Coach in July 2013.
Griego cheered all through high school and for five years while attending the University of New Mexico. She also coached for Universal Cheerleaders of America for four years.
Kelly Grice - All-Girl Cheerleading Coach
Amber Lazo - Assistant All-Girl Cheerleading Coach
Amber Lazo joined the UNM Spirit & Dance program as the assistant coach for the All-Girl Cheer squad in August 2013, moving into a coaching position after having spent November 2012 to July 2013 as a Marketing Intern within Lobo athletics. Lazo will assist with cheer aspects and community service coordination. A native of Albuquerque, N.M., Lazo attended UNM and was a four-year member of the All-Girl Cheer team. She graduated in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication/Public Relations.
