OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton women's tennis team played their second straight Missouri Valley Conference match on Saturday morning, falling 6-1 to Southern Illinois.  The Jays drop to 9-7 on the season, 0-3 in MVC play.

The Salukis won the doubles point, taking two of three from the Bluejays on the afternoon.  Anita Lee and Anastacia Simons started off the day with an 8-5 win over Elizabeth Vermillion and Amanda Noonan in the No. 3 doubles, before the Bluejays evened things up with an 8-3 win by Kelsey Schmidt and Mary McMullan over Natasha Tomishima and Jennifer Dien at No. 2 doubles.

SIU won the doubles point when Korey Love and Malanie Delsart ousted Jennie Hartjes and Analese Snyder 8-4 at the No. 1 spot.

Taylor Koehrsen was the lone Bluejay to pick up a win in singles play, defeating Korey Love 6-2, 5-7, 1-0.  The match was the final to finish on the day, so the complete third set was not necessary.

Delsart defeated Hartjes 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles, followed by Tomishima downing McMullan 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 4 singles.  Dien then downed Schmidt 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles before Lee won by an identical 6-3, 6-1 score over Snyder in the No. 3 singles.  Ariadna Cairo Baza then closed out play with a 6-4, 6-4 straight set win over Vermillion in the No. 5 singles.

Creighton will be back in action next weekend, when they travel to Illinois for matches at Bradley (Saturday) and Illinois Sate (Sunday).
