Women's Golf 13th in First Spring Meet

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. -- The Creighton women’s golf team finished 13th at the Grand Canyon Women's Spring Invitational on Tuesday. The par-72 6,146 yard Wigwam Golf Course hosted the 15–team event. The field included host school Grand Canyon, Northern Arizona, North Dakota State and Santa Clara. 

Creighton finished with a team score of 1,018 (334+335+349). Northern Arizona (298+305+317) and Santa Clara (308+303+309) tied for first with a 920. McNeese State (317+298+308=923) came in third.  

Grand Canyon's Charlotte Jaengkit (78+72+74) and Northern Arizona’s Brittany McKee (73+75+76) tied for the top spot overall with a 224 before Jaengkit won on the third playoff hole. McNeese State’s Sydney Martien (77+76+72=225) finished in third place. 

For the Jays, Katie Morel tied for 41st shooting a 243 (80+83+80). Grace Yowell (81+84+90) finished tied for 60th with a 255. Rachel Thompson placed tied for 64th with a 257 (83+83+91).  Annie Pearson (90+85+88=263) finished tied for 71st and Kelsey Petersen placed 81st with a 279 (91+91+97). 

The Jays compete next at the Bison Invitational at Paiute in Las Vegas, Nev., on March 10-11.
