. -- The Creighton women’s golf team finished tied for seventh with SIU Edwardsville at the Charles Braun Jr. Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The 11-team event took place at the Quail Crossing Golf Course. Among those participating were Southern Illinois, Indiana State, Evansville, Northern Iowa and Nebraska Omaha.
The Jays finished with a score of 657. Northern Iowa finished first shooting a combined 625. Indiana State (627) and Eastern Kentucky (631) finished second and third respectively.
Alex Zenor of Northern Iowa took top individual honors with a 148. Christiana Beyerl (153) of Indiana State finished second and Butlers’ Isabella Lambert, Evansville’s Cathy Doyle, and Eastern Kentucky’s Rachel Welker finished in a three-way tie for third with a 154.
Individually for the Jays, Celeste Gassman
led the Jays. The senior finished tied for 25th shooting a 162. Freshman Grace Yowell
finished tied for 30th with a 164. Mary Cathryn Rau
was the third best golfer for the Jays. The sophomore finished tied for 44th with a 168.
Sophomores Rachel Thompson
and Katie Morel
both finished tied for 51st shooting a 170.
The Jays have completed their fall schedule and will return to action in the spring.
