FAMU (4-17, 3-3 MEAC) finished the contest with nine hits as the Rattlers had nine different players to finish with one hits each.
SSU (8-12, 2-1 MEAC) tallied a game-high 19 hits as Matthew Oglesby went four-for-five from the plate to lead the Tigers.
Rexford Davis (2-2) picked up the win for SSU as he pitched seven innings, giving up six hits, three earned runs and striking out six in the 29 batters he faced, Thomas Barwick (0-4) received the loss for FAMU as he gave up six hits, five earned runs and struck out two in two and two-third innings on the mound.
SSU grabbed a 5-0 lead in their half of the third as they scored five runs on five hits, sparked by a Joseph McCrary single scoring Uriah Virgo.
FAMU would cut SSU's lead to 5-3 in the bottom of the third as Reginald Grant scored on a Scott Sheplak single. Both Sheplak and John Scott would on score on a Birdsong single.
The Tigers would increase their lead to 8-3 with three runs in the top of the fourth.
SSU then took a 12-3 lead into the bottom of the eighth.
FAMU picked up two more runs in the bottom of the eighth as both Birdsong and Jaylin Earl scored on an Aaron Smith doubled to left field. The Rattlers would score one run in the bottom of the ninth as Khiry Hernandez crossed the plate on a Leonard Richardson ground out to third.
The Rattlers will return to action on Tuesday, March 20 as they will travel to Macon, Ga., to take on Mercer University in 6 p.m. start.
