DURHAM, N.C. -- The Duke Student Athlete Advisory Committee teamed up with the Duke Center for Civic Engagement again this year to participate in the Project Share Campaign. Through this Holiday giving program, members of the Duke community provide gifts to Durham individuals and families in need this holiday season. Through the generous donations and committed efforts of sponsors, the Duke community provided gifts for 300 families this year.
The Duke Student Athlete Advisory Committee adopted 3 families, a total of 16 people, and was led by junior Men's Soccer player Nick Tsipis, who served as the Project Share Committee Student Representative. Each Duke Athletic team collected money for Project Share and raised a total of $1300 to use for the Durham families. Women's golf had the highest donation with the Football team coming in a close second.
Nick Tsipis and Ellah Nze from the Women's Tennis team faced the Holiday craziness and went shopping for the families this past Saturday. This morning a group of 30 plus student athletes took a break from studying for their finals to gift wrap the presents for the three families and help deliver the presents. Additionally, the Duke Tennis Royal Blue Club donated 10 tennis racquets and tennis balls to the Project Share Campaign.
