Policies And Procedures
Overview:
Study hall is mandatory for all athletes that are eligible for
game participation. See the chart below for required hours:

Note: Any student-athlete who is on academic probation by the University is required to attend study hall ten hours per week (two hours per day) and to meet with the Coordinator of The Student Athlete Academic Enhancement Program weekly. Any student-athlete not adhering to these guidelines will automatically be dismissed from their respective teams. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Study hall is located on the third floor Hodgin Hall in The
Center for Student Success.

General Rules:
I.
To receive proper credit for study hall an attendee must sign
in and out of each session. Additionally, students must remain in the
study hall areas designated to receive credit. Any student that leaves
study hall after signing in will not receive credit for that session and
will be reported to their head coach immediately.
II.
Necessary books, assignments and materials must be brought to
study hall sessions in order to receive proper credit hours.
III.
Personal tutoring is available during normal operating hours of
study hall. Any tutoring administered by an employee of The Student
Athlete Academic Enhancement Program will count as study hall credit.
IV.
Computer labs are available for athletes during study hall.
All work must be academically related. Leisure activities such as chat
rooms face book my space, games, sports websites etc. are strictly
prohibited and are grounds for immediate dismissal.
V.
Team members are encouraged to sit separate during study hall
hours. Any team causing any distractions as a whole will be asked to
leave study hall as a group and will be reported to their Head
Coach as well as the Associate Athletic Director immediately.
VI.
Any student athlete is welcomed to attend study hall; however
study groups that have participants involved that are not a part of
intercollegiate athletics must be done outside of study hall hours.
VII.
Student athletes are only permitted to gain a maximum of 3 credit
hours each session.
Attendance Policy:
Student athletes are responsible for meeting their weekly hour
requirements by 6:00 pm on Thursday. Student athletes who fail to meet
minimum requirements will suffer the following consequences:
First offense- Warning letter to Head Coach/ Assistant & Associate Athletic Director
Second Offense- Suspension from competition until study hall hour are completed
Individual teams also have penalties in place. Please refer to team manuals for further information.
Tutoring Sessions:
Tutors are hired in various academic areas to specifically work
with student athletes. Any student athlete needing personal attention
is encouraged to sign up for tutoring. Specific hours each week are set
aside so that each individual athlete needing specific academic
assistance can receive it.
Tutoring must be done during the normal operating hours of study hall, as well as in the designated areas. The Student Athlete Academic Enhancement Program is not responsible for any tutoring sessions conducted outside of locations not listed under the operating hour’s section.
Supplemental Hours:
Student athletes are permitted to gain study hall hours from other
campus resources such as the library, departmental reviews and
educational workshops or seminars. Other areas are permitted and will
be determined on a case by case circumstance. For credit all student
athletes must take a supplemental hour form to the session the day of
the event, have a faculty representative present sign the form and
submit the form within 48 hours to the Coordinator of Academic
Monitoring for Student Athletes.
All information will be verified and any falsification of information will be reported to the Head Coach as well as the Associate Athletic Director.
