ST. CATHARINES, Ont.- Leigh Vanderveen and Katie Howlett scored two goals each, while Jessica Fickel added three points including a goal, as the Brock Badgers soundly defeated the Ryerson Rams women's hockey team 8-0 on Thursday night.
Brock (10-10-1) moves into sixth place in the conference with the victory.
After taking a 2-0 lead into the first intermission, the Badgers exploded for four goals in the second frame, three of which were scored in a span of 1 minute and 37 seconds.
They would add two more in the final period to round our the scoring, while all 30 of the Rams shots were stopped by Chantal Bicket, who earned a shutout along with the victory.
Dana Carson (London, Ont.) made 38 saves on 46 shots in the loss for Ryerson, who went 0-for-5 on the power-play. Brock was succesful on two of its seven opportunities,
The Rams will head to Guelph on Saturday afternoon to take on the Gryphons, and will play two more road contests before concluding their inaugural season with a pair of games at George Bell Arena. Saturday's puck-drop is set for 2:00 p.m.
