VICTOR, Idaho -- The South Dakota State men's golf team shot a three-round score of 898 to finish seventh out of eight teams at The Battle of the Tetons to open the fall season.

The Jackrabbits carded a 302 in the final round on Tuesday after posting scores of 295 and 301 in the opening rounds Monday.

Hudson Carpenter finished in sixth place invidually with scores of 71, 74 and 72 for a three-round total of 217. Joining Carpenter in the top 10 was Greg Fehrman in a tie for ninth, finishing two strokes back with rounds of 74, 71 and 74 (219).

David Smith finished the tournament in a tie for 36th with a two-day total of 232. Brian Wynia shot a 234 (73-83-78) to finish in a tie for 40th along with freshman Miles Knutsen (81, 79, 74), who competed as an individual. Freshman AC Sitter was five strokes behind at 239 to finish his first collegiate tournament in a tie for 45th.

Leading by 24 strokes after the opening rounds Monday, Wyoming ran away with the tournament, shooting a team total of 847, with Valparaiso finishing 36 strokes behind. Wyoming's Eddie Stewart picked up the individual title by five strokes, shooting rounds of 68, 69 and 71 (208).

The Jacks are back in action next week at the Fairway Club Invitational hosted by Nebraska on Monday and Tuesday.
