Jacks prep for championships

With less than two weeks to go until The Summit League Indoor Championships, the South Dakota State men’s and women’s track and field teams will travel to Lincoln, Neb. and Vermillion, S.D. to prepare for the big meet.


The Jackrabbits will compete in the Nebraska Tune-Up and the South Dakota Twilight on Friday. The Nebraska Tune-Up is hosted by Nebraska and the University of South Dakota hosts the South Dakota Twilight.


This will be the second time the Jackrabbits will travel to Nebraska and to the University of South Dakota.


The Nebraska Tune-Up will start at 12:30 p.m. with the women’s distance medley relay.


The South Dakota Twilight will be begin at 4:30 p.m with the men’s weight throw.




LeAndre Kennedy is tied for fourth in the 60-meter dash (6.98).


Luke Leischner is third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.13 seconds, he is also second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.61 seconds.


Gina Fritz is tied for fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.44 seconds.


In the 800-meter run, Phillip LaVallee ranks fifth with his time of 1:57.00.


Michael Krsnak is third overall in the mile with a time of 4:13.85, he is also second in the 3000-meter with a time of 8:17.76.


Tera Potts is first overall in the mile with her time of 4:55.02.


Trent Lusignan ranks third in the 3000-meter with his time of 8:30.00. He also ranks second in the 5000-meter run with his time of 14:26.68.


In the women’s 5000-meter run, Erin Hargens is fourth overall with a time of 17:33.56.


The women’s 4x400 relay team ranks fifth with their time of 3:52.58.


The women’s distance medley relay team ranks second with their time of 12:17.50.


Connor Berg is fifth overall in the high jump with his height of 6’ 4.00”.


Kali Olson ranks fifth in the high jump with her height of 5’ 6.00”.


Jeremiah Ary is fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 45’ 7.00”.


McKenzie Johnson and Shelby Assmus are ranked fourth and fifth respectively in the shot put. Johnson has a mark of 47’ 6.50”, while Assmus has a distance of 46’ 6.50”.


Brooke Garner is second overall in the weight throw with a mark of 59’ 10.50”, in third place is Assmus with a distance of 56’ 2.00”.


Fifth in the heptathlon is Bennett Mercil with 4593 points.




SDSU will be traveling back to Vermillion, S.D. next weekend to compete in The Summit League Indoor Championships. The championships will take place on February 24th and 25th at the DakotaDome.
