The Summit League named South Dakota State point guard Nate Wolters the men's basketball player of the week on Monday, after the senior led the Jackrabbits to a pair of league road wins at Western Illinois and at IUPUI.

Nate has a good feel for the game in general, and that showed in both games this week," head coach Scott Nagy said. "He played great defense at Western Illinois and distributed the basketball well at IUPUI."

Wolters earned his 12th career award and fourth this season after leading his team to a pair of victories, including a win at first-place Western Illinois. In a rematch of last year's Summit League Championship Game, Wolters led all scorers with 22 points while adding six assists, five rebounds and three steals to hand WIU its first league loss and snap an 11-game win streak.

Wolters' 22 points marked the most scored by a Summit League player this season against the Leathernecks, who entered the game with the nation's No. 4 scoring defense (52.2 ppg), while his three steals accounted for half of the WIU turnovers.

Two nights later, Wolters scored 12 points, dished out seven assists against just one turnover, and pulled down six rebounds at IUPUI. He also added two steals and a blocked shot against the Jaguars. Wolters averaged 17.0 points, 6.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds for the week and surpassed the 2,000 career points mark.

Wolters and the Jackrabbits begin the second half of The Summit League schedule on Saturday, when they host North Dakota State in Frost Arena at 2:05 p.m.
