SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The ball simply didn't bounce the Bluejays' way on Saturday, Aug. 18 as the Creighton women’s soccer team fell to Missouri State, 2-0, in the exhibition finale.  The match was played in three 30-minute sessions.

Missouri State turned the first opportunity of the game into a goal as the Bears' Molly Huber faked a shot to draw Creighton keeper, Michaela Moen, out of the net. Huber then sent a pass to Molly Brewer for an empty net goal in the fifth minute of play.

Down a goal, Creighton took control of the period with seven shots, but strong work in the net by the Bears' Jessica Perry kept in a 1-0 after 30 minutes.  The Bluejays outshot Missouri State 7-2 in the period.

Creighton continued to dominate possession in period number two as the Bluejays fired off eight shots, but once again came up empty handed.  Meanwhile Missouri State found pay dirt on just three shots, scoring in the 59th minute of play on an unassisted goal by Kristina Tomaras at the 58:11 mark.

Both squads used their benches liberally in the third and final period.  For the game Creighton led the shot exchange, 17-8. The Bluejays open the 2014 season on Friday, Aug. 22 at South Dakota State 6 pm.
