Women's Soccer adds four for 2014

OMAHA, Neb. - Creighton women's soccer head coach Bruce Erickson has announced four additions to his squad for the 2014 season, Mckynzie Dickman, Callie Henshaw, Summer Khalil and Lauren Pipitone.

"This group comes from successful backgrounds and has the understanding and ability to be another quality class to enter Creighton," said Erickson.  "We have high expectations for each individual and collectively to help us compete for a BIG EAST championship."

Dickman is a 5'4'' midfielder from Canoga Park, Calif.  She plays for Harvard-Westlake High School, where she led the Wolverines to a combinedrecord of 19-2-4 over two seasons. Sidelined by a hip injury during the 2012-13 season, Dickman played for one of the top club teams in the country as she helped her squad battle through a highly talented region to an eighth place finish nationally.

"Mckynzie is a very physical, athletic midfield player who we expect to contribute immediately. She is an excellent ball winner and can be a link player in the midfield for us. She plays for Richard Simms at National Finalists Real SoCal Soccer Club and has flourished under him.  She is a winner and brings a great mentality to our team," noted Erickson.

Henshaw comes to Creighton from Liberty, Mo., where the 5'9'' defender played for Smithville High School.  During her first three seasons playing for the Warriors, Callie led her squad to a 59-15-1 record, including a 15-0 combined record in conference play.  She is a three-time all-district player and earned the Defender of the Year honor following both her sophomore and junior seasons.

"Callie comes to us from Sporting Blue Valley and Coach Huw Williams.  She is a strong defender who can play central or wide if need be.  Callie if ready for the college game and we look forward to getting to work with her," said Erickson.

Khalil is a 5'3'' forward from Westside High School in Omaha, Neb. A local product, Khalil led the Warriors to the state quarter finals in both 2012 and 2013.  Khalil was the District Final MVP last year and earned All-State Second Team.  During her sophomore season she notched 15 goals, while knocking in three goals and two assists in 2013.

"Summer is a player we have admired while watching her through high school at Westside and with her club team.  She is a versatile player who can play a number of position for us. Her competitive drive and ability give her an opportunity to play immediately," said Erickson.

A native of Scottsdale Arizona, Pipitone is a 5'4'' midfielder from Xavier College Prep School.  Named to the Arizona All-State Second Team last season, Pipitone led the Gators to the Arizona State Title in 2013.  During her first three seasons she scored a combined 10 goals and delivered 21 assists for 41 points.

"Lauren is another great person of character and talent that we are adding to our roster. She has had a successful club and high school career and we hope to see her excel at Creighton," concluded Erickson.
