BRIDGEPORT, PA - Three members of the Iona College men's water polo team were named to the CWPA Northern Division Honor Rolls this week. Sophomore Jake Lloyd was named to the Offensive Player of the Week Honor Roll, junior Stefen Hill was named to the Defensive Player of the Week Honor Roll and freshman Tommy Keefe was named to the Rookie of the Week Honor Roll.
Lloyd scored 15 goals for the Gaels as Iona opened the 2012 season at the Navy Open. Lloyd began the weekend with a four goal, two steal performance against Gannon. Lloyd followed it up with two goals and two field blocks against George Washington and a four goal effort against Navy in the team's third game of the day. On Sunday, Lloyd scored five goals against Bucknell.
Hill recorded 35 saves over four games this weekend for the Gaels. In the Gaels' 21-7 win over Gannon, Hill made eight saves in third quarters of play. Hill then recorded back-to-back 10 save efforts against George Washington and Navy. Hill ended his opening weekend with seven saves against Bucknell.
Keefe opened his rookie campaign with a two goal effort against Gannon.
Iona returns to the water Sept. 15, when it competes at the CWPA North-South Challenge in Cambridge, MA.
