SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Freshman volleyball player Sloane White has been named as the Southern Conference Offensive Volleyball Player of the Month for November, the conference announced on Thursday.

During November, White led the Cougars in total kills (79), was second in service aces (6) and third in blocks (11), as the Cougars won six of seven matches and advanced to the SoCon Tournament final for the 10th-straight season. The Southern Conference Freshman of the Year averaged four kills per set and hit .392 in the conference tournament, earning her a spot on the All-Tournament team. White was named Second Team All-SoCon and finished the 2011 season with a conference-best five Freshman of the Week honors.

A native of Indianapolis, Ind., White finished the season with a team-best 374 kills and hit .273 on the year.

This honor marked the second time that the Cougars had a player earn a monthly award this season after redshirt-junior Emily Shelton earned September Defensive Player of the Month recognition.

Samford's Alexis Bauer, who won the tournament's Most Outstanding Player award, earned November's Defensive Player of the Month honors.
